Well, soldier, I hope you enjoyed your visit! Too bad you
have
to leave now, just when the band’s back and the dancing is about
to start up again. Oh, not much of a dancer, huh? That’s okay.
Here’s a list of interesting places you may want to check out
while you’re in town - no dancing required. Speaking of dancing,
I promised this one to that good lookin’ blond sergeant over
there, so if you’ll please excuse me… So long, soldier, hope
you’ll stop by again to check out what’s new at the Canteen -
you’re always welcome!

EarthStation1.com
"World history in digital sounds and pictures" is how the site
describes itself. This is an awesome site, well worth the hoops you
have to jump through to access the information. This site
is as cluttered as an absent-minded professor’s desk but stacked
just as deep with interesting items - you’ll find some great
stuff here. Scroll down the page and start at the World War
II Sounds and Pictures. You’ll find gems such as listening to
Eisenhower’s entire D-Day broadcast to Western Europe and watching
a video clip from the 1941 Frank Capra movie "Why We Fight".
Just a note, since this site deals with history as it was, it
does contain items which can range from disturbing (holocaust
photos) to offensive (racist wartime cartoons) so please be aware
of this before you look. BTW, everything here is free - don’t
be put off by the "purchase" note beneath each item, this is
just a link that takes you to a page that sells things pertaining
to the category you’re in. Also, there’s a lot of downloading here but
again, it’s well worth the effort!

War II Vehicles A great jumping-off page for World
